Artist's Description
Done in charcoal & pastels, Cultural Affair represents the many styles of music around the globe. Wearing the traditional costume, painted in each countries colors, each beautiful woman is centered around an album expressing the many cultural sounds influenced in some music, & depicted here in my drawing. In the center of the album is a disco ball representing dance/electronica sound. Brazillian, Raggae, Indian, Middle Eastern, & Jazz are just some of the main influences in this artpiece & represented here in my drawing.
About Carla Carson
Hello, my name is Carla Carson. My home here on FAA houses all of my art I have mastered over a span of many years. I reside in Phoenix Arizona, but I am originally from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It is from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where I earned my Associates degree in Visual Communications. I work primarily with Charcoal & Pastels, & what you see in my art, poetry, and books, comes from my heart & soul, a reflection of myself. I find all my inspiration in the beauty of each day, & in the amazing people I have met in my lifetime. It is my love for people & my passion for life, that drives me to go after my set goals & follow my dreams. It has been placed upon my heart to start writing and illustrating children's books. Just read the comments on Bob and thought I would offer my impression of him. To me he comes across as a mix of Johnny Depp and Stephen King! Hope this does not offend Bob. :-)
Carla Carson replied:
LOL! I don't think BOB would mind the men we are all comparing him to? Let's see here, he is a poet, a kind person with a huge heart, a talented artist, & if he looks anything like Johnny, he had better start boarding up his doors & windows!!! HAAAAAA!!!! "They're coming to get you Bobby" (Night of the Living Dead) lol! Thank You Susan, your fun & your welcome here any ol time! :D Carla

This is great work Carla, I love the feel of energy coming through this, it really makes me "Wanna Dance" even though I was definately not a disco lover!!! Your representation of the different music styles is excellent and the circle format really pulls it all together! v/f
Carla Carson replied:
Susan, Thank You very very much!! Actually I hated disco, I was just giving BOB a hard time.. I was more into funk! still am! I really love your comment! You are so kind! :)

I thought it was pretty funny. I had to to stop using the word shot because the i is next to o and most times the i got typed ....
Carla Carson replied:
Shiznit! my new favorite word! Bob, your the shiznit! It is Snoop Doggs word for your "shot" that you unfortunately mispell sometimes... :O Your funny, you come across to me to look like & act like Richard Dreyfuss??!! I told someone that as we were "talking" about you..
Carla Carson replied:
She said you came across to her as Kevin Kline in French Kiss ha ha ha

I have to admit there was a lot of great dancing, fast and slow. Yes Donna Summer was awesome. You changed my name back LOL
Carla Carson replied:
I tend to go a bit far sometimes with comments. I never want to offend anyone or someone take something the wrong way. It's hard to read people over the computer. Some are too uptight, I aleways have to go back & edit myself! always!!! Thanks "BOB" I was actually hoping you wouldnt notice the change.... :( .... :)

Awesome concept and the face/ expressions on each person is perfect for the style of music. Are you longing for those disco days :)) Just kidding about the disco day -- V/F
Carla Carson replied:

Love this! :)
Carla Carson replied:
Me too!! I'm in love with the colors. Drawing & painting faces is a big thing for me, it's what I enjoy most. They always have to look beautiful. When working with such small faces like this, it's hard, but I make sure they look good. I think whenever you create any painting/drawing of a human, it could be spectacular, but if the face is wrong or out of proportion, it will ruin the whole artpiece. I wanted to make sure each lady had a beautiful face. Im rambling.... ha ha ha Thank you Michael, I appreciate you taking the time to lend a kind word... Carla :)
Cristopher Ernest
Very cool Carla,....much like, hope you are well
Carla Carson replied:
Thank you very much Christopher. I'm doing OK. Keeping busy & working on many art projects. Hope you are doing good too.... :)
