Description
This was my very first painting done with acrylic paint. I was probably in my mid teens. This is NOT my original work. This is my painting of a painting by one of my favorite artists Frank Frazetta. He is the genious behind all the Molly Hatchet covers. He was my inspiration. This is NOT for sale, as it is NOT my original idea.

Bob Orsillo
Carla you nailed it! I hope you had the chance to show him this work - When I was kid I use to copy his paperback book covers :) I think everyone has seen his work - but so few know who he was. Wow this is good! V/F
Carla Carson replied:
I wish I could have met the man. He did leave quite a legacy. He also will never know how much of an inspiration he has been to young artists all over. He certainly will leave a lasting impression on this earth, & in my heart. If it were not for him & Audrey Flack, I would not be typing this to you today! Thank You soooo much Bob, your kinds words mean the world to me!
Yelena Rubin
Wonderfully creative image! Outstanding work!
Carla Carson replied:
Thank you Yelena. Please read the description, this is my painting from long ago, my first oil painting. I painted this from Frank Frazettas painting. It is not "my" original. He was just my inspiration as a young girl. Thank you for the great comment, Carla :)
Stoyanka Ivanova
Please, try again to work with colors. Most of your works now are in b/w, but I think you have a potential also in color works!
Carla Carson replied:
I will definately do more color works in the future. I would love to do some more acrylice pieces. I really used to enjoy working with acrylics. Thank you so much Stoyanka for your advise! I love working with charcoal, but at times I break away from it as I need a change, or a shot of color. My next breakaway piece I will do in acrylics! Thank you again so much, Carla ::)
Agnes Varnagy
Wow! This is great Carla! How I mist it.
Carla Carson replied:
Thank you Agnus! This is my painting of a painting by Frank Frazetta. I did this many moons ago. It was my very first painting. I think I was in my mid teens? I keep moving my pictures around, so maybe thats how you missed it.... Thank you friend, Carla :)
Carol Cavalaris
Wow! Frazetta would be impressed. I'm a fan of his work, too. I can see why your dad sent you to art school after seeing this ... it's awesome and shows your amazing talent. I remember drawing when I was a kid, and creating my own paper doll clothes, and began oil painting when I was 13. My first painting was a leopard lying in the grass, and I'm still painting big cats. Thanks for sharing your first. :o) Carol
Carla Carson replied:
And your paintings blow me away. When I first saw your work I was in total awe. Im a huge cat lover. I especially love your lions & tigers. They even seem to seep into your humans in some of your paintings... I need to go through all your new paintings! Im trying my hand again with oils. I used to do alot of that too, but I have none with me. I gave everything away back then. We shall see.... Again, thank you for your inspiration, & I hope your having a wonderful Easter, Carla :)
Emna Bonano
This is beautiful......
Carla Carson replied:
Thank you Emna, your very kind. This was my very first painting as a teenager. My favorite artist at that time & my inspiration was Frank Frazetta. Before this I used to sit in my room & draw warrior princesses. Wish I still had those. No one had any idea, one time my father saw what I was doing & was so surprised. Thats when he said "Im sending you to Art School" I was like COOL!!! Anyhoo, its nice to share stories & early works on here. I would love to hear others stories of their beginnings & what brought about their passion for art.
