Well, if that's a "practice" portrait, I cannot even imagine how awesome a final version would be. This is stunning Carla and like all of your work, eloquently captures mood and emotion in such a way, that your viewer cannot help but be swept up in it. I immediately wonder just what promise was broken and that look on her face...gawd...was it to keep her safe or something as simple as an ice creme cone undelivered? This "feels" to me like it was a promise of great importance. And maybe I am completely off base, but this portrait makes me wonder if it's of you when you were little? It's feels to me like one of those moments when we as children first experience the shortcomings of the important adults in our lives...and the resulting distrust that can haunt us for a lifetime. Beautiful, beautiful work. v/f

Lets see... where to begin... when I started out with my art again after 20+ yrs, I started with the portraits (mainly celebrities) I loved doing portraits the best & needed people to draw & thats why you see all my celeb photos. I dont sell those, as I dont know copyright stuff & dont need any more issues in my life. I had to have something to show so people would see my portrait work & maybe would want one done of themselves or of friends & family. It worked, they loved the portraits & come to me for regular portrait work. The little girl was done as long back as well & was done for practice as regular people added into the mix of celebrities. I just wanted & needed faces to work on when I was starting out. I did this one also because she does hold a VERY deep secret. It is way too personal to share in the open. It was a promise made to me that was broken. If I say anymore, I would end up deleting later as you well know lol! We will keep it at this, & I will add... Thank You very much Rory, your support means the world to me. I hope you won that contest from "Opie"!!!!!! ha ha Carla :
